The Meaning
We're all highly complicated social creatures.
To me, everyone has two major personalities: one visible to everyone, to strangers, colleagues from work, people we interact with rarely, occasionaly. It's "outside".
The second one is visible only for the people we're close with, like family, friends, partners. It tends to be our better side, but it's "inside".
Yet still sometimes there're certain situations and/or certain people who'll see our "inside" before they're close with us. How that happens? Is it bad we have dual personalities or is it necessary to fully appreciate the best side of someone?
The Spark
Following one of my favourite directors work (GMUNK) I've came across Marcin Ignac app that transforms primitive geometry to complicated shapes using multiple splitting parameters.
At the same time I've discovered an amazing creative agency called Exposure and have had few conversations about their approach with their creative directors. Engaging the audience interaction is a great concept to explore and I thought: "what if interaction would be unconcous and linked with generative art?"
The Method
I'm asking my friends to give me six numbers ranged from -2 to 2 with two spaces precision after the coma. They don't know what it is for. The numbers are used in Marcin Ignac app for splitting. That limits me from an infinite number of options, to probably few billions in terms of geometry. I use other variables to achieve pleasing geometry.
Then I'm switching to Cinema4D for lighting, materials, camera and background. Then to After Effects for finishing touches and render.
The renders are then printed on square-shaped canvas. It's perfect if you need something to put in your garage, faced to the wall or under the bed.
